AccraPremium proudly hosted the latest Gourmet Cooking Club event at the Embassy of Japan here in Accra. The Gourmet Club is generously sponsored by Koala Shopping Centre and French dairy company Elle et Vire.
Mrs Koko Nikai, spouse of the Ambassador of Japan to Ghana, Mr Naoto Nikai, was our gracious hostess. Embassy Chef Watanabe prepared 4 dishes ranging from Matcha Ice Cream to Bean Cake and Japanese Plantains. The most enjoyable part of the event came when the Gourmet Club members had the opportunity to roll their own sushi. All of the ingredients shown in the video can be found at Koala Shopping Centres.
The excitement surrounding the Gourmet Club is very encouraging. In the coming months, AccraPremium has many more fantastic events in store!

This morning I had the pleasant surprise of tasting my first cup of grown in Ghana coffee. Upcountry Coffee is based in Ghana offering high quality craft-roasted coffee to local consumers. Their Robusta coffee is grown at altitudes of 2000 to 3000ft and is inter-planted with other crops, giving it unique flavours. You can find their delicious blends at Stellar Foods locations in Accra and Takoradi.
Upcountry is committed to preserving coffees and improving the lifestyle of farmers through better field processing and providing a local market for gourmet coffee.
On February 10, 2014 at the VIlla Monticello Hotel, AccraPremium was honored to host the Introductory meeting of the new Gourmet Cooking Club, sponsored by Koala Shopping Centres and Elle et Vire.
Our guest chef was Mrs Ophelia Akiwumi, proprietoress of The Orangery in Adabraka. Using products purchased at Koala Shopping Centre, including Elle et Vire dairy products, Mrs Akiwumi prepared 2 gorgeous salads (Salad Nicoise and Mediterranean Salad) as well as a PassionFruit Cheesecake. The club members responded very favorably to the lesson and to the food prepared.
Over the next several months, thanks to our sponsors, we will meet in the finest homes, restaurants, hotels and diplomatic residences to explore cooking techniques from around the globe. Each event promises some hands-on activity and concludes with the members having a lunch of the food prepared.
Our media partners, Nii Kwei Tetteh II of Seven and Seven (photography) and FashionistaGH (videography) captured these lovely images of the introductory event.
