Gastronomy, a term familiar to some, unknown to many, and a complete lifestyle for others. Gastronomy is a study of both food and culture, with a concentration on the finer, and more gourmet side of life. Deriving from the Ancient Greek words "gaster" for stomach, and "nómos" for laws that govern, gastronomy enthusiasts or gastronomes have cultivated an advanced pallet that coincides with the standards of gastronomy. Gastronomes can be found all over the world, and for those residing in Accra they can rest assured that new French fine dining restaurant Maestro is here to cater to all of their foodie desires.
Nestled in a quiet corner of the Airport Residential area, Maestro welcomes guests into their tasteful and modern home. Offering an exceptional top shelf bar the moment you walk in, each step deeper into Maestro attracts all of your senses. If you're lucky enough to dine in during the weekend a live duet of strings will serenade your experience. The decor is upscale but tasteful, proudly displaying an array of fine wines and champagne along the staircase. Catering to all patrons that come in, Maestro has a separate and enclosed dining area for smokers who for once aren't forced to leave their meal to partake. The staff is painstakingly polite, knowledgable and attentive, perfect for helping those unaccustomed to some of the more lavish menu items.
Maestro's menu is crafted and executed by Gastronomy Expert Chef Stephanie of the internationally known Carlton Hotel line. Maestro offers premium cuts of beef, chicken, duck, fish, as well as fresh vegetables and desserts. I dined on a classic piece of Salmon dressed in a not-so-classic butter and dill sauce, needless to say I can't wait to return for a second portion. Some concerns budding gastronomes face with fine dining is the age old question; will there be enough food for the price? While the food is lavish, Maestro doesn't shorten their patrons a fulfilling and well rounded meal. Although the menu is crafted to meet international and French standards, I couldn't help but feel slight comfort in seeing the local delicacy of fried rice is still offered even in the most top of restaurants.
If you're looking for an upscale, lively, and most importantly premium restaurant to celebrate a birthday, kick off a weekend, or stare lovingly into your partner's eyes, look no farther than Maestro. Maestro is open from Monday to Sunday for dinner from 6PM to 10PM.
